"Believing, Hoping, Enduring" begins in 1721 with the release of Swedish POW's in Russia and ends in Jamestown, New York in the 20th century. Between these bookends is a spiritual revival in Sweden and the adventures of two young Swedish emigrants, Edith Ericksson and C.S. Carlson. After arriving in America in 1902 and 1903 respectively, they work hard in their new homeland, rising above heartache and tragedy. Providence brings them together and they fall deeply in love. Their marriage in 1911 produces six amazing children. In the years to follow, C.S. establishes a successful meat market in Jamestown. He and Edith become active members in the Swedish Baptist Church and are highly regarded in the community. When their 16-year-old son dies and a gifted 7-year-old daughter contracts spinal meningitis, the Carlson family seeks God’s help. They experience comfort in their grief and a wonderful miracle in their desperation. As the siblings leave home, each one discovers God’s unique plan for their life. Do you need a read to encourage your soul? This is it. The story has it all—history, romance, inspiration, and remarkable illustrations of how the Almighty works out His grand design in our lives.
