real-murder-investigation
Real Murder Investigation
Real Murder Investigation (650 pages) examines true to life aspects of police homicide investigation. The book is ideal for law enforcement investigators, criminal justice students, attorneys, law students, and other professionals interested in being educated about the inner workings of real murder investigations. Instructional strategies include the use of over 150 actual homicide cases to demonstrate successes and failures of police investigative actions associated with identifiable components. Components include murder victim analysis, murder scene investigation, improving crime witnesses, distinct investigative approaches regarding motive, specific types of homicidal violence, the news media, case prosecution, serial murders, cold case investigations, and legal aspects important for homicide investigators. Over 80 relevant U.S. Supreme Court, federal appeals court, and state court cases are included, many of which work to the advantage of law enforcement. All information in this book was presented during unique training seminars for law enforcement conducted by The Homicide Education and Training (HEAT) Project, LLC, co-founded by the author in 2008. A hands-on, Hollywood-created hypothetical homicide case scenario used in the training is presented in this book and examines both investigative strengths and deficiencies observed in the participants.JD Thornton was employed by the Fort Worth, Texas Police Department for over 30 years. He was both an investigator and supervisor in the Homicide and Major Case Units for over 24 of those years. His tenure included those years with some of the highest murder rates in Fort Worth history and at or near the top in the United States in annual homicide cases per detective. Thornton was responsible for initiating a cold homicide case effort and later a permanent cold case unit. From 1999-2010, over 100 cold homicide cases were solved as a result of this effort. He was the co-founder of the Homicide Education and Training Project, which was a one-of-a-kind training program for law enforcement investigators. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University.
ASIN: B088XWRTRJ
VSKU: BVV.B088XWRTRJ.G
Condition: Good
Author/Artist:Thornton, JD
Binding: Paperback
Note: Any images shown are stock photographs and product may differ from what is shown.
Condition Notes: The item shows wear from consistent use, but it remains in good condition and works perfectly.
