Brother Eddie L. Brinkley Sr. began preaching the gospel at the young age of 14 as a member of the 19th St. at Williams Street church of Christ in Chattanooga, Tn. He attended Nashville Christian Institute under the tutelage of Bro. Marshall Keeble and was selected as one of his boy preachers who traveled with him throughout the southern stated=s of the United States. He preached for 78 years and served 62 years as the minister of the church of Christ at MLK Blvd in Wharton, Tx. Throughout his ministry, he established many congregations in the south Texas Gulf Coast region and in middle Tennessee. As an evangelist, he baptized countless numbers into the body of Christ throughout the United States. Brother Brinkley is known for his quick wit, humor, dedication to studying the word and his simplicity in sharing the gospel of Christ. In his early ministry as a young boy preacher, Brother Brinkley was encouraged by Brother Hosea Love to keep his sermons simple and to "Always swing the pot low enough for everyone to sop."
