באירוע ברנינגלנד, תחת השפעת חומרים פסיכדליים, עמרי ניצב מול שאלה מכוננת: מי אתה רוצה להיות?
שאלה זו שולחת אותו למסע שחרור מהטראומה, ששיאו בטקס איוואסקה.
שנתיים לאחר מכן, באותו אירוע, עמרי פוגש את אייסי, צעירה חופשייה שמדליקה מחדש את רצונו לאהוב בעוצמה. ביום האחרון של החוויה המשותפת, אייסי מציבה להם אתגר כדי לבחון את הקשר החדש: לא לדבר זה עם זה במשך שלושים ימים.

בספרו הראשון, ההוא שם בחוץ, עמרי מתמקד בהתמודדות עם הפוסט-טראומה שרודפת אותו בסיוטים. כעת, בפרק השני, הוא יוצא למסע מרגש ומלא עוצמה אל תוך נבכי הנפש, מתעמת עם השדים הפנימיים ומתחיל את דרכו לשחרור.
