First, your student will learn 100 sight words based on Fry’s 100 list. The first 100 sight words represent over 50% of English text! Sight words also don’t follow typical decoding rules, so focusing on these words FIRST give children the confidence to read and aids in comprehension. Create a word wall in your home! Use index cards or colored paper to write each sight word on. Add it to the word wall as your child learns it in this book. Periodically, ask your child to point to the sight words on the wall and read them. Practice, practice, practice! Be creative with “creating it!” on each sight word page. Use modeling clay, magnet letters, etc! After the student has worked through 100 days of sight words, begin analyzing and reading CVC words. Each CVC set includes three parts that leads to reading comprehension. Yes! They will be reading! Start to include Easy Reader books into your daily practice and read with your child. You’ll notice that they recognize sight words and other words too! WHERE DO I BEGIN?Page one!
