A Cry for Help: Finally Free!

The abuser looked at me and said, “Oh, you have Angels! That’s the only reason that you are still alive is because of your Angels!” You see, GOD sent an ANGEL into the room and everything stopped! Glory Hallelujah! Thank You, GOD for saving my life! After this, I was contemplating killing him while he slept. The LORD kept telling me that the battle was His and not mine to fight. I kept saying to God, “I don't care he is a dead man tonight!” But the Lord said these words to me, “JEANNIE it will be premeditated, and you will go to prison, and who will raise your children?” How many women are serving time in prison today when all they wanted was an escape from their tormenting abusers? I thank God that he spared me from a fate of murder and prison! One night, God put me in a deep sleep and when I awoke, I went upstairs to my children’s bedroom and woke them. They were hugging and kissing on me and I told them to get up and get themselves a bath and get some clothes packed because we were leaving that house as soon as the coast was clear. My children told me they thought all that night that I was dead. So, we left walking over to my friend’s house who lived only a few blocks from me. Oh boy when I made it to her house, I fell right into her arms crying and telling her what he had done. She got my children into a safe place and told her older daughter to watch and keep them back in the room. I’ll never forget the time when my daughter asked me, “Mama, do you have a brain!” I said, “yes.” She said, “Well he may be fooling you, but he don’t fool me!” The day I finally left; my son told me to promise him that I would never bring them back to that house anymore. I kept my promise that I made with them that day, we left, and I have never looked back. Many times, Women never believe that being in an abusive relationship has negative effects on their children. I am here to tell you that it does! My children were under so much stress and anxiety. I can see why they took their frustrations out in various ways. Poor concentration in school, fighting, and arguing with each other, sometimes they would be so angry with people who had not done anything to them. I thank God that my children and I are finally free!
