A Peek at History thru Naomi Parker's Family Letters: Vol.1 - 1937 to 1949 (Our Rosie the Riveter)

Rosie the Riveter and the “We Can Do It” poster have become wonderful icons for the women’s movement today! Naomi Parker’s picture taken in 1942 is believed to have been the inspiration for the “We Can Do It” Rosie the Riveter poster. But who was Naomi? Luckily, we inherited many family letters that tell a fascinating story of growing up in America in the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, etc. Marnie, daughter-in-law to Naomi, lives with her husband Joe Blankenship, Jr. on 1.5 acres of paradise in Kelso, Wa. They are both retired, and active members of the local Christian Motorcyclists Assoc. Marnie’s love for Naomi shows in all the work she did to type all the letters, organize them, and make comments on almost all of them.
