This is the story of a remarkable group of immigrants who bravely left their villages in Sicily, Germanic Europe, and Ireland to build new lives in Middletown, CT, Manhattan, and Philadelphia. Along the way they suffered immeasurable heartache and disappointment but continued forward toward a larger goal. There are no famous people or life-changing accomplishments among these stories. However, the key players in these pages did observe and participate in events that were noteworthy and often even newsworthy. They are more history-adjacent than history-making.
