Description
Africa's Hell on Earth: The Ordeal of an African Journalist is the story of Omar Bah, who escaped from one of Africa's most brutal dictators for his writing as a journalist. The story takes the reader back to his life in The Gambia with anecdotes of an African village life culminating in his escape from AK-47 wielding soldiers bent on killing him. Omar was rescued by the American government and resettled in Rhode Island as a refugee in 2007. Omar Bah, the winner of the 2017 Red Bandana Award and the 2016 John F Kittney Public Service Award from the Providence Newspaper Guild, is the Founder & Executive Director of the Refugee Dream Center based in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. He was a Psychology Fellow at Vermont Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) for the 2018-2019 academic year; and is a member of the Global Advisory Board of the Center for Human Rights & Humanitarian Studies at the Watson Institute For International & Public Affairs of Brown University.
