An Ark for the Poor, originally published in 1995, is a history of L'Arche. Jean Vanier himself revised this updated edition as he looks back on 47 years of L'Arche communities. Founded in 1964 in Trosly-Breuil, France, LArche communities can now be found worldwide. LArche is dedicated to the creation of faith-based day programs, support networks and homes for people with intellectual disabilities. Flowing through the book is the philosophy and spirituality of LArche, which has allowed it to grow from a humble home of three men to a worldwide organization operating in over 40 countries.
