Description
The story of Shirley Wanchena's spiritual journey which led to the founding of Minnesota's Pacem in Terris Hermitage Retreat Center, will inspire while teaching the importance of silence, solitude, simplicity, and surrender to all who seek to deepen their relationship with God. Hers was a remarkable journey - a journey that eventually took her to Rome where she received both a personal blessing and a blessing on her hermitage sanctuary from Pope John Paul II. Shortly before Shirley died, a visiting hermit guest commented to her that it must be satisfying as the founder to see your vision, your dream of Pacem so wonderfully fulfilled. Shirley quickly held up her hand and said, Wait a minute. It wasn't my idea! God called for an environment where His people could come and be alone with Him. He simply asked if I was willing to do it. I said: I will try!
