Description

Welcome to Welcome to Beyond Differences; Honoring Diversity In Schools and Beyond, A Curriculum For Trainers And Coordinators Of Peer-To-Peer Support Programs. As our communities, schools, workplaces, and families become more and more diverse in everything from cultural norms to gender identity to skin color and diversity of thought, it is important for the students to clear their lenses so they can have a clearer vision when working with others and looking at the things they may not typically see. Through this highly interactive middle, high school, and college curriculum, your students who are in service to other youth their age, will explore culturally responsive concepts and topics related to working with a diverse population of their peers, co-workers, and community members. They will explore unconscious biases and how to mitigate its manifestations at school, in the workplace, and in the community. Your students will walk away with a deeper understanding of how to respond with greater awareness to improve school, workplace, and community culture, climate, supervision, and student achievement. This curriculum supports your students to reflect on their own life experiences and share these experiences with others in a safe, supportive, and highly engaging environment. The topics that will be covered include Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, Belonging, Microaggressions, Unconscious Bias, Social Identity Groups, Intersectionality, Privilege, as well as the next steps in giving support to others as the Peer Advocates build their consciousness and clear their lenses.
