This book was written as a study guide for those who minister within the local church as elders, shepherds, and small group leaders.It is the hope that the lessons in this small book, taught by Jesus to his churches in Asia minor, would offer insights through the corridors of time to our present situation - wherever that might be. The churches of Asia Minor were pastored by Christian shepherds in the first century, and Jesus was watching carefully how things were going. He addressed these leaders in Revelation chapters 2 and 3, but what did he have to say? Was he pleased? Was his concerned? Did he have corrections for them? The answer is yes, to all of these questions. But, what do we learn from these instructions, and how do we apply the timeless truths to our situations today?Each chapter in this study will include a commentary section on one of the churches of Asia Minor as recorded in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. This will be followed by a “Theological Distinctive” that the commentary raises, which must be thought about more deeply by church leadership. The Lord Jesus Christ walks amongst his churches, He is the Chief Shepherd. May all those who minister under his leadership be blessed by the time spent in this study.
