Coastal features of England and Wales is not intended to supersede Professor Steers' Coastline of England and Wales or The Sea Coast, but rather to bring them up to date by considering some key issues in the evolution of the coastal environment, especially problems connected with Flandrian oscillations of sea-level. Eight essays, profusely illustrated by figures and plates, deal with cliff types, relict cliffs, coastal landslips, islands adjacent to the coast, the movement of material on the sea floor in shallow water, and the possible origin of certain beaches.
