An increasingly number of children and being diagnosed with autism and many of them have physiological problems, the cause of which seemed to coincide with their abnormal behavior and autistic manifestations. An increasing number of parents are questioning the medical and psychological professionals about the possible biological causes of autism in their children, and question they should. Part 1 of this book is a critical look at the premise of autism itself. and the debilitating cycle of hopelessness it generates. It is also a discussion about the positive transformation that can take place for parents and their ill children when knowledge, wisdom and truth in science are sought by all who comprise the body of the autistic community. Part 2 presents a philosophical and pragmatic look at the plan that my husband Gary and I have used to break the cycle of hopelessness for our child. It comprises the eight steps we designed that eventually led us to the discovery of secretin treatment in autism, a therapy which has not only helped our sin, but hundreds of other children worldwide since our story was aired on national television in October 1998. This book is not about any one particular treatment or approach for every autistic child.
