In this casebook, Chemerinsky (Duke U. School of Law) presents three types of material: major cases, edited secondary cases, and his own contextual essays on the cases he's selected. For the second edition, new material has been added concerning presidential power in the war on terrorism, decisions concerning state sovereign immunity, and Bush v. Gore. For clearer presentation, no numbered notes follow the cases. There are ten chapters, which may be used in any order, on the federal judicial, legislative, and executive power; on topics that include limits on state regulatory and taxing power; economic liberties; equal protection; and freedom of expression under the First Amendment.
