“By gosh, I like it!” the hawk-nosed man exclaimed, gazing at his reflection in the mercantile window. He was admiring the coat, called a Duster, just purchased from the store. It was a loose-fitting, full-length coat with a short cape over the shoulders. It fit his slim frame long, almost down to his ankles and passed his wrists, but he didn’t mind. He liked the way it looked and how the coat’s tan color matched well with his newly acquired Stetson hat; its chinstrap dangled loosely around his chest. His cow-skin boots, which he was told would keep his feet dry, would take some breaking in. However, they pinched his toes and rubbed the back of his heels raw. He should have bought them earlier, but hadn’t, and now he would have to endure their discomfort until his feet, or the boots, adapt to the new change. But he liked what he saw in the store window and imagined he looked the part of a traveler out west.
