Novelist Darell Brooke was the legendary King of Suspense until an auto accident left him unable to concentrate. Kaitlan Sering is Darell's twenty-two-year-old granddaughter - a girl who had lived for drugs and stolen from him. She'd been nothing but trouble and Darell had cut her out of his life.
Two women in her town have been murdered, and Kaitlan knows who the killer is - her own boyfriend Craig, the police chief's son! She found Craig's latest victim lying in her bed, and now Kaitlan is being fingered as the likely suspect. Unable to trust her boyfriend or the police, a clean and sober Kaitlan begs for her grandfather's help.
For over forty years, Darell Brooke has lived suspense. Surely he'll devise a plan to trap the cunning Craig. But can Darell's muddled mind do it?
