Echo: In Peace and War

Former TSgt Christopher George is a twelve-year U.S. Air Force veteran with more than twenty-one years of combined military, federal, and defense-contracting service, including deployments to Iraq, Qatar, and Afghanistan. After separating from the USAF in 2018, he spent fifteen months in Afghanistan as a defense contractor, supporting military intelligence and counter-corruption advisor group missions. Across more than twenty-one years of combined U.S government service, he turned to poetry as a way to understand what he experienced overseas and the long road home that followed. Echo: In Peace & War brings together these poems as a testament to those he served alongside and to the unseen weight many veterans and first responders carry long after service ends. His work speaks to the highs and lows of service, the impact of trauma, and the ongoing work of choosing life, faith, and hope when the shadows feel heaviest. Christopher writes to tell his story and theirs, and to say as plainly as he can: You are not alone. He dedicates this book to every veteran, to family members and friends who have stood watch in peace and in war, and to those still fighting battles that cannot be seen. A portion of the proceeds from this collection will be donated to Brother’s Keepers Veterans Foundation (BKVF), founded by former Green Beret and defense contractor Chris Cathers, to help bridge gaps in VA care and provide critical support and resources to veterans in crisis.
