Eleventh Hour: a Connor Hawthorne Mystery

Mystery novelist Connor Hawthorne and her lover, Laura Nez, are enjoying a quiet weekend at a women's resort in Palm Springs, but a poolside conversation with resort employee Bettina Waters soon has them neck-deep in a mystery with global ramifications. Bettina tells them about a disturbing letter in which her sister, Carmen, has demanded the balance of her inheritance immediately. The next morning Bettina is dead. Connor and Laura then travel to Yorkshire in the British Isles, where the letter originated. There, they discover that Carmen has become involved with the followers of Sister Sonia, a woman rumored to have remarkable healing powers who is preparing her acolytes for "the end times." In a dream encounter with her deceased grandmother, a Celtic high priestess, Connor receives the message that Sister Sonia is toying with powerful forces she doesn't fully understand. Connor's suspicions, already aroused, become inflamed, but it is her daughter, Katy, who goes undercover against her mother's wishes to investigate Sister Sonia - and discovers a link between the cult leader and the massacre of an archaeological team on an island in the heart of the Bermuda Triangle. Then Katy disappears, and Connor and Laura launch a desperate search.
