Description

Frauline, Do You Want to F*** is the true story of Maria Brachmanski, a young Polish‑Silesian girl whose life was transformed by the German invasion of Poland in 1939. Born into a coal‑mining family in Upper Silesia, Maria’s childhood ends the moment German tanks roll past her window. As the war tightens around her family, she is sent to labor in the mountains, works in the Registrar’s Office under German rule, and witnesses the early signs of the Holocaust as Jewish prisoners are marched through her town. In 1945, with the Russian Army advancing and violence sweeping the region, Maria’s mother makes a desperate decision: she sends seventeen‑year‑old Maria west with retreating German soldiers in the hope of saving her from the brutality inflicted on women as the front collapses. What follows is a two‑year odyssey across borders — a cloister in Bohumín, the firebombing of Dresden, forced labor on a Czech farm, imprisonment in Marienbad, and a dangerous escape into Bavaria. Along the way, Maria survives because of her courage, her ability to walk, and the unexpected kindness of strangers from every side of the conflict. After the war, Maria rebuilds her life in Esslingen, where she meets the American soldier who will become her husband. She eventually immigrates to the United States, raises a family, and becomes a teacher to others — carrying her wartime memories quietly until her death in 2023. This book reconstructs her journey through family stories, letters, documents, and historical research, revealing a story of resilience, moral complexity, and the quiet strength of a woman who refused to let war define her.
