"From Soil to Soul," investigates how creating a community garden can serve as a transformative solution to food scarcity, fostering physical nourishment and spiritual renewal. This book explores the multifaceted role of community gardens in addressing food injustice, enhancing community engagement, and promoting holistic well-being. By integrating the doctrines of stewardship, fellowship, liberation, and the ecclesiastical mission of the church, it positions the community garden not merely as a source of fresh produce but as a living embodiment of faith in action and a means of liberation from systemic food inequities. This resource will serve as a model to help other communities fight food injustice. Plenty of resources are available to aid in this work, but we must be willing to network and use the help available. Truly, the harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few. As a community that embraces these challenges of poverty, food insecurity, and justice issues as a united body, I believe we can overcome them by employing communion, fellowship, and love. This project seeks to show how community gardens can impact food insecurity. Each community garden that starts provides needed food into the hands, homes, and stomachs of those who desperately need it. This project reinforces the mission of being a good neighbor. We have a God-given mandate to guard and keep the land or, as I have learned, to unlock the earth's potential. I'm committed to helping people help the land so the land can continue to take care of the people.
