From The Opposite Side of Cush: A Concise Retracing of the Diaspora From The Holy Land to Soudan

The term "diaspora", from the Greek word διασπείρω (diaspeiró), meaning "to scatter abroad", by definition refers to the movement, migration, or scattering of a people away from an established or ancestral homeland. However, when it comes to the history of the Jews, this term transcends the primary, surface-level meaning and becomes a concept; the culmination of the movement, migration, and scattering of the children of Israel didn't conclude with assimilation into the cultures in which they found themselves.
