From the Sandhills to the Big City: Reflections of a Modern Ag Woman

From the Sandhills of North Central Nebraska, to farm country in Northeast Nebraska, to a graduate of the University of Nebraska, Juanita (Boeckenhauer) Reed-Boniface took her agriculture roots and her education to Minnesota. Within two years she was offered a position in the Minnesota Extension Service 4-H Department, a position that provided the venue to working with youth, professional staff, volunteers, and farm families all over the state. She had a gift of building networks with agriculture organizations and leaders, a skill that has served her well her entire life. This book culminates a yearlong writing adventure using the StoryWorth program. The weekly random story topics served as a discipline for undertaking a project that was on her “to do someday” list. Stories trace highlights of her life “From the Sandhills to the Big City”. The reader will find them organized around eight themes: Family, Holidays, Growing Up, Professional Life, Faith, Values, Kindness, All About Me- Favorite Things, Friends, and Final Thoughts. Underpinning the themes is the impact of those early roots, established as a “child of the prairie” and particularly the livestock industry.
