Gemini Bites

Judy and Kyle Renneker are sixteen-year-old fraternal twins in a family of nine. They have a prickly history with each other and, from Judy's perspective, are in constant competition. Kyle has only recently come out to his family, and feels like he might never find a boyfriend. Judy, who has a history of pretending to be something she isn't in order to get what she wants, is pretending to be born-again to land a boyfriend who leads a Bible study group. When their parents announce that the family is going to be taking in a student in their grade for the last few weeks of school before he moves away, both Kyle and Judy can't help but notice. Garret Johnson (who will be living in the attic room) just moved to town a year ago, is a mysterious, goth loner... and claims to be a vampire. He's not an easy person to get to know, but the twins find him (to varying degrees) both strange and alluring. Gemini Bites explores what it means to pretend to be something you're not, what happens when that backfires, and how the complete and honest truth is almost always best.
