Jenkins' Plantation

Dora was only three years old when her parents were sold to salve trade and shipped to America. Along with her parents, they were shipped in wooden crates and treated like animals. She stood quietly by her mother's side during what was reported to be one of the biggest salve auctions. Her mother, Jane, ran the kitchen for the master while her father worked in the field and did carpentry work. It was a couple of years before they were sold to Master Jenkins. This is where Dora grew up. She learned to work in the kitchen with her mother, and when she got older she followed her dream of teaching by teaching other slave children how to read, write and do math.
