With nothing more at stake as my life crumbled under unimaginable circumstances, my destiny grew with career travel adventure. From the festive Key West Tropics to the extremely well paid Arctic contracts; enthusiastic persistent determination was rewarded well beyond my wildest dreams. Career aspirations vanished while nursing an intense relationship that had soured with their windfall of greed; adventure towards new opportunity became the dream… I woke up again to find a preacher praying next to me. He didn’t seem to be phased by the doctors who were now working at an even faster pace than before. I couldn't speak anymore, I continued watching all the activity of more needles and shots; nurses hanging additional IV bags onto existing ones… The part-time job initiated for the tourist season now became my full-time livelihood and evening entertainment.. ..the inebriated drunks swinging on the tree rope from bench to bench fully entertained… Best described as the sounds of a ghost basketball game in the midst of the civic arena floor and constantly turned lights on to monitor the echoes of crash, jingle, swoosh, thud and clatter of the spirits throughout the sleepless night.... It was fortunate to be covered with blankets in the protected cab. Unless the bottled water was put directly under the cab heater, it never thawed... The apparent engine problem was that the antifreeze had frozen solid and it could shut down at anytime. A breakdown out here now in this extreme cold of sixty below zero wasn’t survivable from freezing to death or becoming part of the food chain… I am infinitely thankful to the Lord for answering those non-stop prayers. I really didn’t expect to be in the middle of nowhere at sixty below zero in the Yukon Winter with only a chance of a hope and a prayer! “Fast Forward to Current Reality”! Challenges Create Opportunities Fourteen Years later, the evolving bigger challenges keep advancing into better “Comfort Zones”. Since returning to the “Lower 48”, my adventures have continued to Hawaii and the South Pacific from my previous planned sailboat charters in the Virgin Islands of the Caribbean as well as island resort operations. Happily married now to my Tahitian wife who I previously initially met barely out of high school without a hope of seeing each other again; every challenge to us has created opportunity. Without her unexpected lengthy US Immigration process delays, we most definitely would have not sought the opportunities in the South Pacific of my captaining with her as the chef on contracted Scripps Institute research vessel expeditions. Voyages to places like Pitcairn Island, the infamous Moruroa nuclear testing atoll or transiting the South Pacific Equator as we didscientific climate research. Although describing our challenges as very stressful at times would be an “Understatement”, the rewards of success from our “determined efforts” as both as captain and entrepreneurs of resorts in the top percentiles of success are second to none. "VERY DARK" Time again as my beloved wife died and COVID restrictions converted my life to living in an isolated life without social interaction. After a year of internet romance,I smuggled in a Thai Girlfriend into my Bangkok quarantine.for a new lifelong romance. Currrently in remote Alaska again as officer on cruise ship photographically "hunting" for great whale and iceberg phto opportunities for our passengers.
