After a long career in Baltimore, Maryland, where he worked in a Catholic hospital, in a private practice in a troubled neighborhood of the city, and on several important committees serving his community, he took up an interest in acupuncture and began a whole new career learning, practicing and teaching traditional Eastern medicine in the United States and in Japan.
