Mentors and Influences: Fun Tales and the Transformational Impact of Lessons Learned in Life

We all live two lives, personal and professional. My personal life was one of interesting twists, turns, singing, dancing, and lessons learned. Those lessons were brought full circle into my professional role. One side of my life was an adventurous, lively and enlightening perspective while the professional side was intently focused on leading educators to help kids learn and grow. Before one final year as a school superintendent, I made the decision to retire. When I announced that decision, it was suggested that the fun tales of my personal life might have a significant impact on the teachers I led and their ability to help kids professionally. Therefore, before I headed off to my One Particular Harbour, I decided to take executive privilege and share personal stories that helped shape my role as a professional educational leader.
