MER - Mom Egg Review 23: Vol. 23 - 2025

MER – Mom Egg Review publishes literary work on mothers, mothering, and motherhood, in an annual print and quarterly online issues of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and art. We also present craft notes, interviews, features, and book reviews online at http://merliterary.com. We publish established and new writers whose work reflects diverse experiences and perspectives on motherhood, literature, and art. MER supports and promotes the work of mother writers and artists through publications, performances, workshops, and educational programs. As the work in this issue shows, while there are many commonalities among those who mother, there are more idiosyncrasies. How one mothers is affected by culture, economics, health and disabilities, profession, partnership status, by one’s children and one’s own parents, and a myriad of other factors. In the hands of skilled writers, poets, and artists in MER, aspects of motherhood are recounted and illuminated. MER is proud to have contributed to the body of literature of motherhood with the honest, nuanced, and thoughtful works we have presented, and present in this issue. The organization of works in this volume draws inspiration from the four elements (earth, water, air, and fire) and celestial bodies, the sun and moon. We mother in conjunction with the earth, the universe. In times when even the most basic of realities seems subject to question, we can rely on writers in this issue to tell their authentic stories, a fundamental, vital function of art.
