This encouraging gift book is a powerful tool to support those involved with schizophrenia and Down Syndrome because it highlights the essential power of love. Miss Rose was born with Down Syndrome and later diagnosed with schizophrenia. She grew up in an orphanage. Yet she loves to care for others despite her own needs for medication, therapy, and care. Her life as a black woman is a triumph because of her faith, her love, her friends, and her incredible spirit. I spent a year deciphering her journals and interviewing her. I wrote as verbatim as possible to represent her precious, simple, and loving personality and voice. I believe the illustrations also honor her character. She wants her life to be an example that inspires others to live by love, not by labels or limitations.
