"Moments In Time" consist of two primary sections and each section is laid out in a chronological timeline format. As an example: "May 25, 1904 - The founders of this city met at the City Hall on this date and established The Pioneer Society of El Paso. Joseph Magoffin, the dean of all members was elected as president . . . . . " Section one deals exclusively with the birth and evolution of the El Paso Police Department up through 2016. Section two, on the other hand, deals with all other non-police related items. Readers will find great interest in the historical content of each section, and will also find items which are down right hilarious. From the outset of the authors research he would stumble upon pieces which had absolutely no relevance to El Paso Police History, however, the stories were either highly interesting, entertaining or had him rolling with laughter. It seemed a shame to ignore these items, so a "Miscellaneous" section (Section 2) was created. Section two is formatted the same as Section one. An example from section two: "July 12, 1909 - Dr. G. Stanley Hall, president of Clark University gave an address in which he claimed American children are not sufficiently spanked, and he does not believe in too much flogging. He further stated that a bit of slapping about now and then reinforces the moral purpose of the child". Aside from the two primary sections, El Paso Police History and Miscellaneous, the reader will find other items such as a listing of all the street name changes in El Paso over the past 130+ years, a listing of all the movie houses and theaters in El Paso's past, a memorial to all El Paso police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, a two page recognition listing of all police chiefs since 1884 and much more. The book also carries a large number of photographs relevant to sections one and two, many never before published. This book will obviously have great interest to current El Paso police officers, but will also have much interest to all retired police officers and their families, as well as all current and former citizens of El Paso. Many, Many police officers from the past are recognized in this book and families of past officers will love this. The primary source for the authors research is his own primate collection of more than half a million newspapers from the 1830's to the present. The author made effort to avoid historical items normally found in conventional history books. If the reader is attempting to find the date when Pearl Harbor was attacked, or when President McKinley was assassinated, they will have to find another book. If the reader wants to know, however, who the very first female cab driver was in El Paso, or when the city actually passed an ordinance against spitting on the sidewalk, this is your book.
