Description
Naomi's Proverbs: A Black Mother Speaks provides tips and strategies for survival for Black people in America. It is a condensed version of Dr. Carter G. Woodson's famous work The Miseducation of the Negro. However, Naomi's Proverbs is from a Black mother's respective who has lived experiences in both urban and predominantly rural environments. Naomi was a mother of six, married to the owner of the only entertainment venue in the village of Allen, a Depression of 1929 survivor, a former model, attended Temple University in Philadelphia and a leader at work and community.
Naomi had five boys and one girl. All had careers. All had a skill to make money independently. All had a family. Truth and honesty prevailed within the home. Mother and daughter were close. These proverbs were and continue to guide her daughter who has had unbelievable, incredible lived experiences standing on her mother's wisdom as contained in the book. These are words that change lives. Words so simple, yet so exacting.
So, if you're interested in peeling back the layers of the internalized actual experiences of a survivor through Depression, Jim Crow, Integration, and beyond, this book of cultural insight is for you and anyone seeking guidance into navigating life if you are Black In America, or if you desire to understand more about Black Americans.
