New Testament Plus: Encountering Jesus through the Bible is designed to help people encounter Jesus as they read through the New Testament in a year and develop their prayer life. The book is based on the OWNit365 New Testament Plus Bible reading plan. Instead of reading the New Testament in canonical order, you’ll read based on authorship (John’s letters, Paul’s pastoral letters, etc.). You’ll also read one Gospel per quarter. The plan is designed for you to read six days a week. On the first five days, you’ll read a chapter from the New Testament. On the sixth day, you’ll read a chapter from the Old Testament that was referenced by one of the New Testament chapters that week. This will help you see how the Bible fits together. On the seventh day, you’ll have the opportunity to reflect on the past, look to the future, and catch up on the plan. The book includes 313 devotionals which help the reader understand that Bible chapter, how that chapter reveals who Jesus is, and how they can apply that day’s reading to their life. The book also includes weekly prompts to reflect and create a “thank God list” from last week and a prayer list for next week. The book’s readings are based on the New King James Version (NKJV) which is written in today’s language while maintaining as much of the wording and grammar of the original languages as possible. This makes the NKJV ideal for close study.
