In the summer of 1954, Anna Ruth Scott and her two best friends take waitressing jobs on the boardwalk of Rehoboth Beach. Eager for an escape from her sheltered farm life on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, and a chance for independence, the naïve youth finds more than she is prepared to handle. What follows is the complete loss of her freedom. Ostracized by her parents, she is sent to a mysterious home for girls “in trouble”. Anna subsequently struggles with guilt and depression resulting from her traumatic experience.
