As I took my first step into the village of El Chico, I felt something so powerful. It was a feeling of unquestionable love for the indigenous of Guatemala. I was there to serve them and I would do anything to help ease their burdens of life. It was never easy but the rewards were amazing – a child’s giggle, a mother’s excitement when her children were given a six-month supply of vitamins, or the joy that a patient would receive a much-needed surgery. I also learned that God is
so powerful and works in the most mysterious ways.
