Terrance wants a wife. His cousin put an advertisement in the newspaper to find a wife and it turned out perfectly for him. But Terrance doesn’t want to do that. He wants to meet the woman and get to know her in person, not through letters. His cousin’s wife suggests her friend, Ruthie, who lives back East. After passing a few letters back and forth, Ruthie agrees to come West to meet Terrance and possibly marry him. When Ruthie arrives and she meets Terrance, he can’t believe how lucky he is. Ruthie is the most stunningly beautiful woman he has ever seen. But Ruthie does not find Terrance as appealing as he finds her. Meanwhile, Auggie, who is 17, is expecting her first child from a marriage to a man who is now dead. She is very concerned that her baby will grow up without a father. She desperately wants a man who is honorable and kind and who will be a good father for her baby. Sammy and Auggie are best friends and are inseparable. All Auggie’s friends and even her grandfather expect Sammy and Auggie to marry. Over the space of just one month, everything changes. Nothing is going as planned, and paths collide! Terrance is scared to death about being married and having to be responsible for that person for the rest of their life. Will he give into his fear? Or will he accept his responsibilities? Ruthie is not receiving the answer to her prayers as quickly as she wants. Will she wait for her answer and do as God has planned? Or will she go ahead with what she wants? And Auggie wants a specific man to be her baby’s father. Will it be Sammy? Or will it be someone else? This is the second book of the Life’s Path series. It is not recommended as a standalone novel. This book is better understood if the series is read in order, starting with the first book of the series: The Crooked Path.
