Pyesa's People: A Hearty Meal of Small-Town Stories with a Side-Dish of Iowa History

Pyesa, Iowa is a small town that's been through some rough times. The once-thriving Mississippi River community has lost its manufacturing plant, many of its downtown businesses, most of its residents, even its public school. But the hearty souls who are left to carry on have no time for grief, bitterness or despair. They are unique characters to say the least as they go about their everyday lives. Narrated by a fictional retired state trooper, who grew up in his grandparents' Pyesa home, these stories will entertain and enlighten as he describes how one small rural community has found a way to move ahead despite the odds, mostly by just doing what it's always done - only with fewer people - incorporating a few unorthodox adjustments. Each tale provides engaging G-Rated entertainment about small-town and rural life, enhanced with a bit of real Iowa history. Learn about Iowa's Carnegie Libraries, Amana Colonies, West Branch's Hoover site, dirt track racing, Civil War re-enactors, the Iowa State Patrol, Mississippi River tugboats and fish joints, Kinnick Stadium tailgating, crop dusting, the Iowa State Fair, river pirates, German POW workers, Sauk and Meskwaki customs, minor league baseball, and river floods, all of which are part of Pyesa's citizens' lives.
