Rooty and the Truth About Trials

Rooty is a young oak tree that lives with his parents in a beautiful forest. He is still learning how to develop his root system so he can independently obtain water to survive. One day as he is working on his root system, a violent storm blows in. Rooty is terrified and is not sure if he and his family will survive. He recalls that his parents taught him to pray whenever he is afraid. He draws on his courage and faith and begins to pray. Although the storm does not let up immediately, Rooty is blessed with comfort and peace to endure it. Once the storm has passed, Rooty and his parents gather together for family time to discuss the storm. Rooty learns that although wind, rain, clouds, and storms are uncomfortable and frightening at times, they each have an important role to play in sustaining life. More importantly, he learns that difficult and scary experiences can be beneficial when they bring us closer to God.
