Rose Out The Concrete

This is a story about a black boy who was introduced to the world without guidance who then figured life out. Being a black man in America who never met my father was complicated and I found myself making the same mistakes he probably did having children young. Never giving up on the dream of being someone was the only thing that kept me motivated. Loosing people throughout my life helped me through the twist and turns that came with this life journey. This story was written selfishly but with my desire not to disrespect anyone. Writing this story proved therapeutic and forced me to take a look at who I was and who I want to be as a man. My hope is someone would read this story and find strength to weather the storms that life brings. Finding something to be thankful for even if it looks like you can’t see the light. If I can do it anybody can. Never give up and know you have choices for every move you make in life.
