Description
When Martin Werner, the 68-year-old Norwegian owner of the nightclub Forbidden Pleasures, is found murdered one morning in his luxurious home in Angeles City, local police show little interest in solving the case.
With the promise of money from Werner’s ex-wife in Norway and the hope of a ticket home for a life-saving operation, Stingo, a Norwegian ex-policeman living in the Philippines, starts digging into the city’s seedy bar scene to find the killer.
When he finally comes face-to-face with Werner’s murderer, he is forced to rethink all his notions of betrayal and truth, guilt and responsibility, freedom and coercion.
Silent Repentance (orig. title Smertens aveny) garnered critical acclaim upon its release and was nominated for the prestigious Riverton Prize.
