Description

As is mentioned by the author in his preface, the surgical reconstruction of a functional hand demands profound knowledge of the intricate structures and subtle mechanisms as well as the application of the basic concepts of biomechanics. The dissections which are presented by line drawings were carried out at the Finchetto School of Surgery. The book describes these drawings and gives sketches which illustrate the faulty balance of forces which contribute greatly to the development of deformities. The author has drawn from dissection his concept of the faculty relationship of forces. From this and from his wide experience he is able to illustrate in detail his methods of treatment.
