Sweet Magnolia Graves

This is the fictional account of how our family found a young lady’s diary, during renovations of our home. I hit the wall with my mighty sledge and opened up the wall that concealed a century old diary that would change our lives for the better. She writes about the unlikely courtship between herself, a doctor’s daughter, and a simple moonshining river rat who captured her heart. The diary also follows how a corrupt sheriff was entangled with an all too convenient crime to cover up his get rich quick scheme. The book is a snapshot in time of a continual theme in small towns; political corruption and those that stand to bridge the gap of sanity. Sweet Magnolia Graves is an allegory of simple people who don’t accept the evil which has encapsulated their small town; they finally find a power far greater than themselves to fix their problems -and it was there all along. The diary was found; truth was discovered - no longer hidden by the lath and plaster of the walls. We, as a family, have learned how to live life better through this diary, and you will, too. It was a simpler life back then; a life we can all have now. How did the diary get into the walls, you ask? We assume it was stored in the attic along with other boxes when Ally got married. She never came back for her stuff, and over time the diary slipped through a crack in the walls during other renovations. The house is a century old and has been added on to repeatedly.
