This book contains letters that were written in the 1920s between Haskel Daniel and Mildred Cecelia Norris from Putnam County, Tennessee. In addition, there are letters written from Sgt. Kenneth Daniel to Dorotha Bryant written between 1942 and 1945 during WWII, along with letters written to Dorotha from soldiers that trained in Middle Tennessee as part of The Tennessee Maneuvers. The whole collection consists of over 400 handwritten letters and cards—only a small number could be included in this book. Additionally, the text includes the rich history of Camp Forrest in Middle Tennessee and the part it played in WWII’s Tennessee Maneuvers, WWII soldiers and their news from overseas, places in Middle Tennessee that have all but been forgotten (Possum Trot and Clifty), along with churches and people from the Upper Cumberland area of Middle Tennessee. Photos and artifacts that have been lovingly preserved enhance the true romance of the handwritten letters in this book.
