A month before he’s scheduled to go on trial for his role in hosting a series of parties in his home involving the sexual assault of four teenaged girls, prominent local attorney Spencer Gray is found dead in his bedroom by his wife and co-defendant, Danielle Adcock. Adcock’s teenaged son from a previous marriage, Bryce Cornwall, has already pled guilty to sexual assault of a minor in each of those four cases, but astonishingly receives no jail time from the trial judge. Since Adcock was the only other person in the home at the time of Gray’s death, she becomes the focus of the investigation headed by Rod Wakefield, Chief of Police in Riverton, New York. The chief has serious questions concerning the coroner’s determination that Gray’s death came as a result of natural causes, a decision that seems to be in conflict with the evidence. When Wakefield discovers a day later that no autopsy had been performed on Gray and that his body was cremated less than twenty-four hours after his death, his concerns multiply. As the news of Gray’s mysterious death becomes public, the gossip mill in Riverton shifts into overdrive. Locals who have been following what has become known as the Riverton Party House case religiously for three years are mostly united in their belief that Danielle Adcock is responsible for the death of her husband. With little to go on other than his instincts, Wakefield wages an uphill battle for justice against an opponent more diabolic than any he has faced before in this page-turning thriller that will have readers guessing until the final page.
