The Book of Courage is the journey of nine-year-old Courage and her understanding of her mom's recovery from drinking too much. Courage writes her feelings of happiness and sadness in her journal book along with the lessons she learns. This book teaches children positive self-reflections too. The book explores adult challenges in a way a child can understand. About the Author: Donica Strange Reescano embarks on one her greatest work with her first children's book The Book of Courage. The book centers around issues of addiction and recovery through the eyes of a child. Growing up Donica faced these same issues, but this is not her story. Courage is a fictional story filled with lessons, learning and love. These elements are ones Donica did have in her own life. Donica is the founder of a nonprofit organization Patricia Ann Strange Diamond Celebration where the mission is to help women in recovery with their educational and developmental needs. The organization celebrates the legacy of her deceased mother Patricia Ann Strange by honoring her overcoming spirit and resilience against her own life's shortcomings.
