Facilitates fresh and communicative discussion about gender issues. Addresses all contexts in which women and men work together - romantic and platonic relationships, religious communities and the workplace. Includes writing exercises, activities, ground rules and readings. This program, co-authored by a woman and a man, seeks to bring gender issues to the threshing floor. It is an opportunity to explore such issues in a structured and non-adversarial context. Recognizing that gender is a social construct, Owen-Towle and Riddle intend their "bridge building" as a project that can be undertaken anywhere women and men must work together -- in romantic as well as nonromantic relationships, among transgendered individuals, in religious communities and in the workplace. The Chapter "Laving the Foundations" provides 31 exercises with incisive questions and writing activities. A full sample schedule of an intensive weekend workshop is given, with helpful hints, ground rules, readings and exercises.
