The burning: a novel

Logan Smith knows Las Vegas is a town of chance and regret, thrilling highs and crushing lows, but when an acquaintance suggests a weekend in Sin City, Logan decides it's just the kind of carefree vacation he needs--a break from the rigors of academia and the battle to make his mark. What he doesn't expect is a personal lesson in blackjack from a beautifully dangerous dealer named Dallas Cole--a woman who challenges his cautious nature and introduces him to the kind of love that burns. Uneasily transplanted to the stark Arizona desert, Logan immerses himself in the research of a new and revolutionary economic theory as he tries to navigate the thrills of his young marriage. But when he realizes the ideas he is pursuing have far-reaching repercussions--maybe even affecting the future of the world--Logan is tossed in a whirlwind of temptation, self-doubt, and betrayal.--From publisher description.
