The Divine Reports is a translation Mishkāt al-Anwār. The work is a profound compilation of sacred hadiths (aḥādīth qudsiyya) gathered and transmitted by the celebrated Andalusian mystic and scholar, Ibn al-ʿArabī (1165–1240 CE), also known as The Greatest Master (al-Shaykh al-Akbar). It presents over one hundred sayings attributed directly to Allah, conveyed through the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. These sayings are revered in the Islamic tradition for their spiritual depth, conveying divine speech that is distinct from the Qur'an yet illuminated by its authority.
The book is divided into three main sections: Hadiths with full chains of transmission (isnād) ending directly with Allah. Hadiths without isnād but nonetheless traced back to divine address. Additional sacred sayings that focus on divine mercy, judgment, and spiritual insight.
Themes throughout include Allah’s mercy, justice, provision, divine presence, and the intimate relationship between the Creator and His servants. Many hadiths emphasize the transformative power of remembrance (dhikr), love for others for the sake of Allah, sincerity, and contentment with divine decree.
The compilation also explores eschatological realities, including paradise, divine judgment, and intercession. Ibn al-ʿArabī compiled these hadiths partly inspired by the Prophetic narration that promises divine favor to those who preserve and share forty hadiths for the benefit of the ummah.
This English-Arabic edition, carefully translated and presented, makes accessible one of the most spiritually potent compilations in the Islamic tradition, reflecting the inner lights of divine address.
