The Healings of Saint Anne

Devotion to St. Anne, as evidenced by the magnificent structure on South Main Street in Fall River, Massachusetts, is not just the physical realization of the vision of the parish priests and parishioners, but, through prayers and devout attendance at Masses, novenas, missions, and other events over the years, heavenly favors began to manifest themselves to pilgrims and attendees who placed their petitions at the feet of the patroness of the parish. While some may scoff at claims of cures, favors granted, or even divine intervention in our lives, the sudden, coincidental, spontaneous, or incidental improvement in the lives of the individuals whose testimonies are detailed herein is empirical evidence that because medicine or science can not explain something does not mean that what happened did not happen as it was described to the priests who kept the records for the reasons given. Denial of God’s providential care through the intercession of the saints is a concrete example of the rejection of His Love for us. We invite you to consider this history with an open mind, informed by faith. Faith that inspires. Faith that divine intervention, unexplainable by human reason, does exist and does happen. The blind see where darkness was before. The lame walk after years of disability. People whose lives were on the wrong path were pulled back from the brink. Marriages healed. Private petitions were granted. Not through any fallible efforts on our part, but as an example for us to learn from to strengthen our faith. The stories and testimonies are the voices of those whose lives were touched by the divine. If it happened to them, it gives us hope that we too can experience the same.
